According to Automotive News, DaimlerChrysler has big plans for the little car company in these United States. Truth be told DCX has had big American designs for the world's smallest production car for some time but has been thus unable to properly bring SMART to market. Their presence in the U.S. so far has been limited to display-only showrooms such as that found in New York.

However, that is set to change according to Auto News, for DCX is looking to franchise 50-60 dealerships nationwide for a 2008 sales debut. We'll see if it actually comes to pass. In the mean time, one can always journey to Europe or to Canada to drive the latest ForTwo.
