Will Ford layoff more workers

After a $100 million in first-quarter net income, Ford is again with its back against the wall. Like most of the automakers, the continual rising of gas prices requires a constant shift in company direction. For some reason Ford still thought they could make money within the truck and SUV market. Obviously they know more than us drivers who have given up those big toys that were cutting into our already shrinking dollar and uncertainty in the job market. I know I sold one of my F350s just six months ago. Makes me wonder how much Ford watches the real market out there. I know many people who have traded in large trucks for the more gas conscience eco-brand of vehicle or are holding on to their older truck because they can't afford a new one. This un-willingness to see the full picture has put Ford in the predicament of coming out and making the statement that they are unlikely to return to profit in 2009. And probably the biggest hit will be the fact Ford is now cutting truck and SUV production by as much as 40%. Let's pray this doesn't mean too many layoffs as well.
