Where’s The Luxury Gone?

Where's The Luxury Gone?

After reading Phil's piece about chrome (Bling-blings Make a Comeback), I got to thinking about real luxury cars. I guess because I equate fancy looks with wealthy people. Anyway, then I got to thinking about the high-end cars that are being sold today: Audis, BMW, Mercedes, etc. and how they are pretty fancy, sure, but they are not luxurious in the sense of catering to the owner. Because the only way to really cater to the owner is to have a driver. Which leads me to wonder if people even have full-time drivers anymore. I mention all of this because I just read CNN's article: Rolls-Royce vs. Maybach. The thing I can't get over, in regards to this article, is why these cars weren't tested from the back seat. The reporter drove around these insanely expensive machines himself! I can't imagine the buyer of a Rolls Royce Phantom (pictured) is his own chauffeur. Well, I won't ever get a chance to order a custom Phantom, but I sure know why I'd pick as the winner of Rolls-Royce vs. Mayback. Rolls-Royce with a knock-out in a second row. Sorry the picture is a bit dark, I hard a time finding an appropriate image.
