Volvo's flagship sedan just got a P.R. boost from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Awarded best in its class for overall vehicle safety, the S80 outperformed the competition in passive occupant protection. Front, side, and rear impact tests showed that the I-Roll-sedan was more unyielding than its rivals.
It should be noted that IIHS also made Volvo share its title with the Acura RL and Kia Amanti. Notably absent from the top of the list were German rivals Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.
