E'er has there been another automotive nameplate as synonymous with rallying as Subaru? Perhaps Audi with its original Quattro back in the 80s or even Mercedes-Benz with its 450SLC in the 70s. But still, unlikely.
For years, Subaru's all-wheel drive cars have been using the wheels that lock, grip, slip, and spin to delight (and horrify) rally spectators anywhere there's been a circuit. This is not to detract from the obvious importance of the drivers' talented roles therein.
The following (02:21) clip are highlights of last year's Cyprus rally where WRCs are put through punishing paces on the dusty trail. The accompanying soundtrack, "Insane in the membrane," might tire some. But it is, you'll have to admit, apropos.
