Fiat, who was getting ready to cry uncle a few years ago, now might have one of the hottest selling cars on their hands. The Fiat 500 was named Europe's Car of the Year for 2008
The United Kingdom's first consignment of the Fiat 500 has sold out. The UK had an initial allocation of 4,500 units when sales began two weeks ago, but already Fiat dealers are struggling to replenish stocks of the popular modern-retro car.
An underground economy is thriving. Anytime demand exceeds supply there is profit to be made. 500's are appearing on websites like eBay, along with highly inflated prices.
A nostalgic interpretation of the vintage 500, there has been talk of the car making its way to our shores, but with no Fiat
dealers or infrastructure in place in the US it could be a long shot.
