Here's one snake that never sheds its skin. Since its introduction by Carroll Shelby in the early 60's, the Cobra has continued to be built, unchanged except for mechanical updates, by several independent manufacturers. Some of the US and UK knockoffs appear authentic at first glance but only England's AC Cars builds the real thing. Which seems appropriate considering that the Cobra sprouted from the beautiful AC Ace sports car, with Shelby adding needed performance. Now, according to Autoblog, AC Cars Ltd. and Texas-based Unique Performance, Inc. have announced an exclusive distribution deal that will bring AC's carbon fiber-bodied MkV roadster to the U.S. market. Okay, the name has changed but they're not fooling us.
