Test Driving the Porsche Experience
At a time when most test drives look as though they came out of an automated word processor, it's refreshing to read a Giles Smith review. Smith doesn't bore us with endless minutae about technical specifications and features, which anyone can find by going to the manufacturer's Web site. Instead, he takes us for a ride and tells, with wit and Humour, of the experience. In a Guardian review of the Porsche Cayman he writes: "Some cars simply offend people on sight. You don't even need to cut anybody up or pull out in front of them. You only have to sit there, innocently, at a junction. You can even be parked. A Porsche is one of these." However the line I like best is this: "When Porsche did lose concentration and branched out recently, the result was the Cayenne, a giant strutting turkey of a 4x4 and without doubt one of the most preposterous vehicles on the road that isn't actually a street-cleaning device."
