Ten Cars to Keep Your Insurance Costs Down

There are many factors that can affect insurance rates, including where you live, your age and driving record, and whether you drive to and from work. But the type of car you drive can also play a role in keeping costs down. Using five-year projections of the Edmunds.com True Cost to OwnSM (TCO) pricing system, Edmunds has drawn up a list of the ten cars most likely to reduce insurance premiums. Interestingly, two are Kias, two are Volkswagens, and one is a Cadillac. The 2006 Mitsubishi Galant shown here, which I recently tested and liked, is on the list, which should make the embattled automaker happy. Along with fuel mileage, insurance rates provide one more reason for exhibiting caution when choosing a new vehicle.
