Suzuki Returns to Compact SUV Segment

No sooner do I write a blog about the old Suzuki Sidekick than the Japanese 4X4 specialist reveals a new one, featuring a flexible three-mode drive system. Drivers can switch among 2-wheel drive, automatic 4-wheel drive, or a locked-in 4wd mode. According to Automotive News the vehicle, named Suzuki SX4, will offer a 1.5-liter dual-overhead-cam four plus an optional 1.6-liter four with variable valve timing. Lucky Europeans can order a 1.9-liter turbo-diesel; North Americans are denied this fuel-saving advantage. The SX4 will arrive here in September.
