The SL inhabits a relatively unchallenged segment of its own in the automotive marketplace. This goes some way in explaining why the current R230 generation luxury-Roadster is not due for replacement until 2013, according to Automedia.
But that does not mean that refits aren't needed to keep the the two-door's lovely lines fresh. And despite being treated to a facelift last year, it seems the SL will undergo yet another next year – but more radical.
In recently captured spy shots, it seems in order are new front bumpers, grille, and headlights Even the side panel air vents are due for an aesthetic reworking.
Engines stand to remain the same.
