British automotive monthly CAR magazine is convinced that the above spy shot of a BMW roadster under heavy camo. is the next generation Z4 and not the highly rumored, Mercedes-Benz SL-fighting Z9 as reported elsewhere online in reference to previous spy photos of the same vehicle.

CAR's recently published spy imagery shows what appears to be a longer and wider roadster than the current Z4. Codenamed E89, the roadster is said to retain its fabric-top (rather than folding steel). The next Z4 will sport four different engine options, the most powerful of which will produce 450 horsepower through a naturally aspirated 4.0 liter V-8.
