Sebring First for Diesels, a First for This Reporter, Too

In a WJR radio report, theCarConnection reminds us that the 12-hour Sebring endurance race happens this weekend. I have happy thoughts of Sebring in years past when, as a motorsports announcer, I was the first person to broadcast the race (or at least portions of it) live. The program was carried on Canada's national radio network, where it generated more positive phone response than any other sporting event including, believe it or not, hockey. What makes this year's Sebring race so fascinating is that it will debut the Audi R10, which is powered by an ultra-high-performance diesel engine. If the R10 makes a strong showing, it could change North American perceptions regarding diesels and performance.
