Renault Mégane
In yesterday's blog on great driving roads I mentioned the Renault Mégane Sport. Virtually unknown to us hapless North Americans, the Mégane has been Europe's best-selling model for three years and a jewel in the crown of Renault's head designer Patrick le Quément. It is offered in several bodystyles; hatchback, sedan, coupe, convertible and station wagon. It also forms the basis of the Renault Mégane Scénic compact MPV. The hottest version is the 225hp 2.0 16-valve Turbo unit that powers the Mégane Renaultsport and the car that Great Drives author Farhad Heydari drove in Tunisia. Would North Americans rush to buy the Mégane if it was sold here? Probably not. Too extreme for Kansas City.
