Reappraising The Quintessential Roller

Your humble publisher has gone and done a truly bizarre thing – I've just written an article over @ Automobiles de Luxe to rival War & Peace discussing the relevancy and symbolism of postwar automotordom's most famous luxury car – the Rolls-Royce silver Cloud. Not only that, I've promised the readership there that'd I report on the car first hand and film it.
I'm not so sure how to go about that last bit, but, I'll give it a go anyway.
For those unfamiliar with the Silver Cloud lineage, it was the first all-new, "modern" Rolls series following World War II. To design a new "Best Car in the World" took courage and more than several breaks with tradition. In the end, it was a chariot that could stare down America's mammoth Cadillacs and Lincolns (and most importantly would sway more than a few buyers Stateside to partake in the Rolls tradition).
But as I observe, this glorious car of yore is being quickly turned into a caricature; from Grey Poupon commercials to wedding duties. Put plainly, the Silver Cloud (and its creators) deserve a better shake.
Rolls fans, read on.
