Ragtops Out!

I'm not sure what my obsession is with the Miata lately, but here's another post about it. I remember reading about Mazda adding a folding-hardtop to the Miata and thinking that was pretty cool. And then I read that BMW is doing the same thing: adding a folding-hardtop to the 3-series. Whoa, now convertibles can be better used as full-time vehicles in areas that get really cold and/or snow. Also makes vandalism less of an issue. Does having a hardtop makes either of these cars less desirable? Does anyone out there think that a convertible has to be a ragtop?
