History and pride in the Stuttgart's racing lineage played the leading role in Porsche's decision to manufacture the special edition Boxster RS60 Spyder; commemorating the victories won by Type 718 RS 60 Spyder back in the early sixties.

History and pride also played a part in Porsche reining in the number of horses put out by the mid-engined, mid-priced Boxster.

The new RS60 Spyder will feature an updated exhaust system that boosts the two-seater's horsepower rating by a modest 8 ponies more than the Boxster S to 303 horsepower.

With this muted hp volume, the flagship 911's place within the ranks remains unchallenged.

Everything else that makes the RS60 Spyder special from an ordinary Boxster is, as they say, just icing on the cake. A symbolic 1,960 units will be sold starting early next spring and prices begin @ €53,500 ($79,400).
