Gotta keep it coming -- more from the LA Auto Show:
Porsche rolled out the 2006 Cayman S for its North American debut here in LA -- and boy, is it pretty. Don't call it a hardtop Boxster, or you'll receive a Teutonic rap on the knuckles from the Porsche folk. Packing 295 hp and 250 lb ft into its mid-mounted 3.4 liter boxer 6, the Cayman S is capable of runs of 5.1 seconds to 60 mph with the manual gearbox, 5.8 seconds with the Tiptronic. Sticker price is $58,900 -- about midway between a Boxster ($45,000) and a 911 Carerra ($71,300). The design is gorgeous -- a little retro to my eyes, with great swooping curves and muscular haunches. The interior feels pretty roomy, though taller drivers will probably be better off in the long run with a Boxster S for comfort's sake.
Should be a winner -- I'm sure Phil will get to drive one long before I do.
