Party's Over? U.S. Senators Consider Reigning In The Horses

Parked.

Will fuel costs met with Federal legislation reduce today's giants of horsepower to mere fossilized relics of automotive history? Perish the thought! Though certain members of the United States Congress are considering enacting legislation that would make it happen.

According to AutoBlogGreen, certain democratic senators seem set to make 40mpg a reality for average vehicle gas consumption by 2017. While, the talk of limiting horsepower output to increase fuel economy is likely just political posturing, the reality of the day suggests that car manufacturers are on notice to innovate their way into a greener tomorrow - and fast.

Suddenly, it's 1980 all over again.
