Palm Springs Explorer
So, tomorrow we're heading out for a long test drive in my current ride, the 2006 Ford Explorer — the Eddie Bauer edition.
The girlfriend, the dog and our guest from New York — we're all piling in the Explorer and driving to Palm Springs to take in the sights. They're taking in the sights — I'll be running through my usual check list for a new car. How well does it merge onto the highway? Where are the blind spots? How does it handle at cruising speed? Maybe I'll throw in a few emergency lane changes, just to see if they've got that rollover issue solved…
There's an up side to the big SUVs — they sure deliver a smooth highway ride, and the high seating position gives great visibility down the road. The down side, though, will come tomorrow, when I have to feed this behemoth 22.5 gallons of gas. I wonder how the fuel prices are in Palm Springs?
