Nissan Gets the URGE
With the North American International Auto Show nearing its opening day on January 14, the automaker's public relations people are gearing up with a deluge of pre-show announcements. Media days begin six days earlier and that's really when the action starts. Nissan has revealed photos of its URGE, a concept sports car that explores new directions for the segment. Styling is claimed to be motorcycle-inspired, the engine is small and high-revving, the gearbox a 6-speed manual unit. Body panels are color-infused aluminum. A driver-oriented cockpit features an integrated Xbox 360 gaming system; something to keep the driver occupied during those long hours stuck in traffic jams, no doubt. The URGE was created in Nissan's LaJolla, California studios.
