Talk about an old-school reunion. One hundred years has passed since Sir Henry Royce oversaw the production of the world's first Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. The luxury horseless carriage's own existence dates back nearly to the dawn of the automobile itself. And to celebrate this milestone in automotive history, Rolls-Royce has invited the world's Silver Ghost owners to tour the length and breadth of the British Isles in their century-old chariots.
Yesterday, the tour started off at Rolls headquarters in Goodwood, England where the factory hosted the largest congregation of Silver ghosts ever. From southern England the party of some 60+ Ghosts will voyage all the way north through the Scottish highlands to John O'Groats and back then back to Albion.
This rally was organized by the 20Ghost Club which "which encourages the restoration, maintenance and use of Rolls-Royce cars built before 1945." In light of the event, Rolls-Royce took the opportunity to announce that the recently Phantom Drophead Coupé is sold out for 2007.
