Aside from the odd Saab in Colorado or Chevy Impala in NYC, the majority of U.S. police cruisers are Ford Crown Victorias.
According to FoMoCo, 80% of American police fleets are the Panther platformed Crown Vics. Well that hegemony is slowly eroding to cross-Mo-town rival Dodge.
The Detroit News reported that Dodge Charger fleet sales are up while Ford's Crown Vic sales are flat. While not as spacious as the old Fords, the Chargers are - true to their name - faster.
With a top speed of 148 mph and a 0-100 mph charge time of 15.2 seconds; the performance difference between the two is like pitting the athletic prowess of Bruce Willis' character in Die Hard against Barney Fife's. There's just no comparison.
