In the hilarious film, Talladegga Nights: The ballad of Ricky Bobby , Will Ferrell plays larger-than-life NASCAR driver Ricky Bobby who meets his match when a (heavily stereotyped) French Formula One driver makes his grand début in the all-American racing arena. The wacky story spirals into a barrel of laughs from there.
However, in the actual world of NASCAR, reality seems to be imitating art. Canadians have taken a strong interest in the U.S. racing series according to Toronto's Globe & Mail and many are eagerly awaiting NASCAR's introductory race on Canadian soil.
And where under the maple leaf flag will the first NASCAR race be held? You guessed it. In the world's second largest Francophone metropolis: Montréal, QC.
The Busch Series will put on a race in the city's Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve this summer.
