Motorcycle Show

Okay, I know it's not strictly car-related, but I'm very excited.

Today's the day — I get to go to the press preview for the 2005 Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, California. The show opens officially this afternoon — thanks to the fine folks at the Motorcycle Industry Council's media arm, Discover Today's Motorcycling. Certain lucky members of the press, myself included, get to tour the show before it opens to the public, followed by a lovely lunch and some speeches by industry dignitaries. It's a great perk of the job — the Motorcycle Show attracts over 50,000 visitors every year, and it's nearly impossible to get a good look at the bikes with the crowds, let alone get a chance to sit on them or to schmooze with the manufacturers' reps. I can't wait!

I'm actually considering selling my beloved 1993 Harley-Davidson Sportster this year — I want to get a real touring bike, and the Sportster doesn't cut it. So this show will be my opportunity to try out a bunch of bikes for size, and to fantasize about my next bike. If you love motorcycles, you've got to check out this show when it comes to your area — especially those of you in frosty climates. It may be your only opportunity to see a motorcycle outside of your own garage during February in Minneapolis.

I love motorcycles. In fact, I got five motorcycles. I prefer them to cars because of their free spirited, carefree feeling when you get to ride on them. I like to suggest that you post some articles on motorcycles, too. Thanks!
