More Convertibles

Just to follow up on my ragtop piece, now there are talks of even more hardtops a-comin'! Autoblog's erin Mays writes:
BMW joins ranks of other automakers hitting the retractable steel roof trend hard, including Volkswagen, Volvo, GM and DaimlerChrysler.
But the part that is new to me is that she mentions (before the quote) that the Lexus IS might come with a folding hardtop. Whoa! Did some manufacturer come out with some lighter yet stronger material to make all these manufacturers (Volkswagen, Volvo, GM, BMW, Mazda, Lexus and DaimlerChrysler) start looking to hardtop convertibles? Make sure to check out mph's article about the new 3-series hardtop. I mean, the seams are so tight-fitting that it's looks like a real coupe!
