Mercedes-Benz Introduces New C-Class

Well they've done it again. The folks @ MotorAuthority, I mean. Those resourceful chaps have landed some of the first pictures of the all new Mercedes-Benz C-Class compact sedan on the web. And boy does it look good.

Finally, the C-Class has grown into its own. Not since (arguably) the 190E "Baby Benz" of the late 80s/ early 90s has Stuttgart produced a small, "entry-level" Luxury Sedan that possessed its own character, its own je ne sais quoi apart from the rest of the Benz line.

The new design carries forward the boxier theme that the recent E-Class refit started and also the controversial wheel well arches that are prominently featured on the current flagship S-Class. The grille is back to the 80s tradition and far more adroit than that of the out-going C-Class. That said, the option for a sportier CLS style grille with large centered Tri-Star is available for the avantegarde.

The improvements carry over inside with the use of what seems like better materials than the predecessor's cheap plastic – though some will lament the usage of cold metallic trim instead of the classic burl walnut.

Still, it's a terrific forward step for a marque whose entry point has fallen from grace somewhat these past few years.
