It's not everyday that us car enthusiasts - not to mention Mercedes-Benz fans - get to see two generations of S-Class flagships face off in a duel of torque tuned might!
EVO magazine (bless their kind hearts) has afforded us internet browsing folk just such an opportunity.
Posted on the British mag's website is a 02:39 video that shows a 450SEL 6.9 and S65 AMG run fierce laps around a track. Of course the S65 AMG fast out-paces the 70's Benz, but it's clear from both driver's and passenger's expressions that the old Benz's performance is every bit as thrilling!
What's more, it's intriguing to consider that even though we're three decades on since the W116 S-Class, the best performance from standstill to sixty from a Mercedes flagship has only improved by three seconds.
