Shown in pimp-tastic white on white (with black interior for the driver's compartment), Maybach has shown that once again it will not go quietly into that good night.
For the past couple of years, the super exclusive subsidiary of Daimler AG has languished behind other super luxury marques (namely Rolls-Royce and Bentley) in sales and profits. As a matter of fact, it's doubtful that since its rebirth Maybach has ever been profitable.
That may change with the new Landaulet Study which will see the light of production day. Like the Mercedes 600 Landaulet of old, the Maybach version will doubtless appeal to heads of state who can get away with having the tax payers fork over more than $350,000 on one roofless limo.
The retractable roof, by the way, is chauffeur operated and opens and closes in just 16 seconds. However, the fabric cover that goes over the folded top is manually affixed. So much for seamless.
Neat concept.
