Cadillac enthusiasts, break out the bubbly. GM Design Chief "Maximum" Bob Lutz has told reporters that a more modest but still potent Mercedes-Benz S-Class fighting V12 Cadillac "Sixteen" is in the works.
Cadillac teased the world with a concept super saloon that was powered by a 16 cylindered, 1000 horsepower engine. The production car will sport only 600 horses. The long, svelte saloon transported wistful enthusiasts back to the day when one could say Cadillac was the standard bearer of the world and no one would laugh, scoff, or cry in response.
Supporting Mr. Lutz's promise, "Sixteen" mules that ride on the same platform as the Chevy Camarro and Pontiac G8 have been spied in Australia at Holden's facilities. It's suggested that the Zeta platform will only serve to test the 7.2 liter powerplant and not actually support the much larger sedan that will see production.
This is good news for America's first and most degraded luxury marque.
