Porsche is set to continue its factorial expansion by announcing the construction of a brand Spanking new "multi-functional facility" at its Zuffenhausen headquarters outside Stuttgart. What's more, it seems that yet again new additions and refurbishments to Porsche plants in Germany are due primarily to accomodate the much anticipated Panamera performance saloon.
"[T]he new building, located at Plant 2 in Strohgäustrasse, will have more than 11,000 square meters of utilizable space on two levels and will be connected by a bridge to the engine plant in Adesstrasse. Until now, old warehouses have stood at the construction site, which have already been torn down. Investments for the building amounted to 20 million Euro. Completion is scheduled for early 2008.
The multifunctional facility is required in order to accommodate future production of engines at the Porsche engine plant in Zuffenhausen for the Panamera model series which will be launched on the market in 2009. The engine plant area will then exclusively be used for assembly of the drive units."
Aston Martin (Rapide), BMW (M5), Maserati (Quattroporte), and Mercedes-Benz (E63 AMG, CLS 63 AMG) - you're all on notice.
