Cadillac
by Jeff Bressler on February 5, 2008

The name "benchmarking" is becoming more prevalent in the auto industry. In essence, benchmarking is designing a car to equal or exceed what a manufacturer deems its competition. Most benchmarks in my mind are pie in the sky.
But Cadillac sure got it right when they decided to create the second generation CTS to seek the company of the lofty BMW 328i and the Mercedes-Benz C300.
In the world of upscale sports sedans Cadillac now wears a new belt being declared champ of its class by the prestigious Consumer Reports.
Among a tough, competitive field, CTS was the only model to win an "Excellent" ranking.
