Jeep Wrangler Top Wrangle

My current test car is a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon.

I made the mistake of trying to put the top down yesterday during a photo session. Needless to say, I was still messing around with the top 45 minutes later as the sun went down and I lost the light.

Jeep has been around since the 1940's, in essentially the same body style and form, with evolutionary changes rather than big redesigns. This top design dates back to the beginning, as far as I can tell -- and there's still no good way to manage it. The manual is very little help. You'd think that in the 50 or 60 years that they've been making this thing they'd at least have come up with a comprehensible set of instructions, if not a useable top!

I'll be driving top down for the rest of my week with the Rubicon -- please pray for clear skies on my behalf.
