Though they would prefer to remain with the Ford Motor Company, the unions that represent the workforce at Jaguar and Land Rover have voted to support Tata Motors' bid to purchase both luxury marques.
Indian conglomerate Tata is seen as benefiting politically from the unions' support over rival bidders Mahindra & Mahindra (India) and One Equity Partners (USA).
Ford is expected to announce the sale of both luxury subsidiaries in the early part of 2008.
