Korean carmaker Hyundai has taken yet another swipe at the German and Japanese luxury car establishment by releasing pictures of the new genesis in advance of its New York Auto Show premiere this upcoming April.

Borrowing heavily on design cues from BMW, Infiniti, and Lexus, this midsized (luxury?) sedan implements the full bore power of a V8 while transferring all that power to the rear wheels. A move that's sure to capture the attention of gear heads everywhere.

While it's not clear where outside North America the Genesis will eventually be offered, one thing is: Hyundai is moving up in the world.
