Hemmings Find of The Day > Messerschmitt

When I saw this bubble car listed, your publisher was pretty convinced that this was the li'l auto that Cousin It drove in The Addams Family. So, the Internet Movie Car Database (IMCDB.org) became my port of call and low and behold the site showed that the hairy Addams did in fact putter about in a 1953 Messerschmitt KR 175.

The name "Messerschmitt" is better known for the enemy aircraft flown by the Nazi Luftwaffe during World War II. After the Allies defeated the Axis, the company was left to readjust its postwar raison d'ĂȘtre. So, in the 1950s Messerschmitt introduced the quirky three wheeler that you now see listed on Hemmings Motor News for nearly $20,000.

While Messerschmitt can't claim the same lofty postwar status that that certain other former Luftwaffe patron has managed, it will go down in history for producing one of the quirkiest cars this side of the Deux Chevaux.

Tap this link if you possess the kind of demented humor that's required to burn 20 large on a clown car.
