Hemmings Find of The Day > Lexus ES300

So help me, I do like this car and I'm not sure why.
I appreciate the '96 lexus ES300 only in theory since I've not actually experienced one. Though I have driven the '99 ES300 and comfortably commanded an '04 and '05 ES330, I've found that each subsequent generation ES has appealed more and more in terms of comfort but less and less as regards style.
Personally, the second generation ES (pictured) really constitutes the most original design of Lexus' entry-level luxury sedans. There is nothing about the ES' design that isn't authentically Japanese in character (and not a deliberate copy of Mercedes-Benz design). It is a rather unique package.
Check those swooping, coupé-like lines. And those advanced-for-the-day projector-beam headlamps. The whole package is svelte, techy, and moderately sophisticated.
Now in terms of desirability, the average shelf life of most Lexuses does not extend past the 3-year lease. Lexus models, unlike their European rivals, usually don't belong to the ages after the original production cycle and aren't typically treasured for years by their first owners. That may yet change, but this is the current state of affairs.
@ $8,000 and 100K on the odometer, this ES is actually a good deal. The photos show the surface of a Maryland car lovingly cared for. Though, the seller will be getting a better deal from you at that price than he could possibly dream of getting from any dealer, anywhere.
For Lexus fans who want a good example of one of the brand's most unique offerings or those who want a near-luxury car for Kia dollars, this ES may just be the buy.

Nice choice of car. I actually drove one myself, it was a nice driving experience. i handed it down to my younger bro and eventually installed a CAI which he purchased online ( http://www.coldairintakedirect.com/makes/lexus.html
). It made a better performance after the upgrade.

I have been leasing the lexus ES 300 for a couple of years, and I must say that it is one of the better cars I have driven. The engine is very quiet, which minimizes distraction, and the leather seats are extremely comfortable.
