Yes, it is six kinds of wonderful. Yes, it is not only a pristine example of a late 80s generation 6-Series BMW, but it's also an M which kicks the deal into seventh gear. And yes, the machine has had a well documented history for every one of those few 24,989 miles. However, that said, this 1988 red on grey M6 is woefully overpriced @ $44,950.
To provide some perspective - a similarly priced (when new) and well maintained (and more so a classic) mercedes-Benz 560SL will command half that figure. A good representation of BMW's own flagship of the same era - the sharp 750iL - can be driven home for ΒΌ the price. To boot, a 2004 (E39) M5 can give the gift of scaring the neighbors with tyre burning pull-outs each and every morning by paying $34,000 one time.
So what gives? The dealer says, "If you haven't driven an M6 or just have a passing fancy, you won't understand." I understand, friend. But I just don't understand the price. Drop $20K and now we're talkin'.
