The desire to purchase a new car or truck is great and so is the need to get the monthly payment down to a manageable level. Are ultra-long-term car loans a disaster in the waiting?

In an article authored by CNBC's Phil LeBeau and appearing on their Web site, CNBC.com, the growing appearance of 9-year car loans is profiled. As LeBeau correctly points out, it is almost inconceivable that the customer is properly considering that the 9-year loan taken out today will run till 2017!

Still paying off an "old" car 9 years later wouldn't be very cool in my estimation
