GM Contemplates Selling Off Allison Transmission

According to the Auto Insider of the Detroit News, The General may have plans to sell off Indianapolis based allison transmission.
GM's subsidiary is best known for manufacturing heavy-duty automatic transmissions for use on commercial rigs.
Suggested reasons behind the rumored sale stem back to GM's significant losses last year; $3 Billion in the first three fiscal quarters of 2006. Though, in retrospect, GM's losses that garnered so much media attention at the time now pale in comparison to Ford's recently reported $12.7 Billion free-fall.
While it is unlikely that Allison's (potential) sale would recoup all those losses to the parent company, like the man says – every little bit helps.
