From Russia With a LADA Love

A LADA race car? I must be kidding, right? Wrong. The brand's manufacturer, Avtovaz, will run a modified LADA two-car team in the 2006 World Touring Car Championship, an exciting series won last year by BMW. Though designed and built in Russia, the LADAs will actually be prepped and raced by Germany's MTEC Sport, with the commercial aspects handled by Mackey Marketing Group out of Atlanta, Georgia. (Stop laughing... we've heard all the LADA jokes. Besides, the brand has a 35-year history of motorsports in Russia.) There's a LADA in my condo garage, driven daily by a BC Ferry ship's officer and still in excellent shape. Parked next to it is an old Cadillac that doesn't run. Source: Autoblog
