I can remember when the fastest thing Shelby had his name on was a Dodge Omni. It is great to have the Shelby name back where it belongs, on a Mustang. Motor Trend has a first look at the 2007 Shelby GT 500 that has so many design cues from the 1968 Shelby GT500KR the family resemblance would be noticed by Stevie Wonder.

The car screams performance, and don't call it a sports car. This is a true to life throwback to the muscle car era. While the stats for the Shelby are not know just yet, rumor has it the car has around 450 bhp. True to the 60's name sake the new Shelby has louvers and vents in all the right places. The price for this much muscle car madness? Expect the Shelby GT500 to set you back around $40,000 to $45,000. The only bad part about the Shelby is that I expect the price will put it out of reach of many of the most interested buyers.
