Judging by Jason's previous blogs I'd guess that some of you are motorcycle enthusiasts. I'm not. I admire bikes as machinery but never wanted to own one because I'd be tempted to ride fast and having witnessed what happens when rider and car come face-to-face, well, let's just say I'm not willing to tempt fate.
Having said that, I also appreciate the romanticism of riding a motorcycle on quiet, winding roads through beautiful scenery, perhaps with a couple of good buddies. Which is why I can recommend a nice little story written by a novice biker on his own blog site, Ride to Live. He describes an early morning trip through the canyons of Nederland, Colorado, following a guy on a restored 1947 motorcycle who wears an ancient helmet and a red bandana. It was scary at times for our novice and he was much relieved when his friends agreed to turn back because of threatening weather.
But while I enjoyed the tale, it didn't encourage me to try motorcycling. What it did do, though, was remind me of how pleasant it can be to drive an open-top sports car through similar territory. I'll have to remember that, when I finally give up testing new cars and have to buy my own.
