Fill ‘Er Up

Fill 'Er Up

I was at the NY Auto Show today. There's always a lot of hoopla whenever manufacturers introduce a new vehicle and it's pretty easy to get caught up in it. Rather than stick around for the smoke and the pulling off of car covers, I leave the press to listen to the talks and spend some quiet time in the cars. I was very, very impressed by the new crop of sub-compacts: honda fit, Toyota Yaris and Nissan Versa. They were all very well constructed and very well thought out. So, where are the American sub-compacts? I didn't see one. Then I read this: Americans will buy SUVs even if gas hits four dollars a gallon: Ford. Sigh. I guess that's why I still saw plenty of big trucks from Ford and the others. Phil's tested a few of these cars and can attest to them being all they promise to be. Fun, roomy and miserly with fuel.

For car lovers and enthusiasts, car shows like this one [NY Auto Show] – that is packed with car nuts including buyers and on-lookers who want to feast their eyes on the new, restyled and retained car makes and models, is really something to look up to.. http://spaces.msn.com/autobuzzer/
