Fill ‘Er Up

I was at the NY Auto Show today. There's always a lot of hoopla whenever manufacturers introduce a new vehicle and it's pretty easy to get caught up in it. Rather than stick around for the smoke and the pulling off of car covers, I leave the press to listen to the talks and spend some quiet time in the cars. I was very, very impressed by the new crop of sub-compacts: honda fit, Toyota Yaris and Nissan Versa. They were all very well constructed and very well thought out. So, where are the American sub-compacts? I didn't see one. Then I read this: Americans will buy SUVs even if gas hits four dollars a gallon: Ford. Sigh. I guess that's why I still saw plenty of big trucks from Ford and the others. Phil's tested a few of these cars and can attest to them being all they promise to be. Fun, roomy and miserly with fuel.
