Euro Compass Gets 43 MPG

In what Top Gear is billing "Jeep's softest SUV yet," the successful 4×4 division of the Chrysler Group is set to launch the new, Honda CR-V fighting Compass to the British Isles.
And while Jeep traditionalists are irate over the fact that the Compass is the first non-trail rated model the brand has ever built, the little 'ute's utility cannot be denied.
Jeep has teamed up with Volkswagen to offer a VW sourced 2.0 Liter diesel that when fitted with a standard transmission (as most would on that side of the Pond) will save the driver money by scrimping on fuel consumption to the tune of 43 miles per Imperial gallon or roughly 35 mpg (1 Imperial Gallon = 1.2 US Gallons).
Impressive stats. Which begs the question, why isn't that VW diesel engine available in the Compass Stateside?
