If your dream is to go to Italy and visit the world’s most exotic styling studios, then here’s your chance. The Car Guys, who also organise the Concorso Italiano during Monterey’s classic car week, are planning a tour in 2010 that will take in the Bertone Collection, the Zagato Italian Design Studio, and the famed Italdesign studios. All three are involved in designing cars for manufacturers based in just about every car-producing country. The Car Guys team recently took an advance trip to plan the upcoming event and while there were privileged to shoot video of some spectacular concepts. They’ve placed the video on YouTube, where you can see the wonderful Bertone Collection cars by clicking here. Unfortunately the camera is hand-held so the shots aren’t as steady or prolonged as we’d like and the commentary by Francis G. Mandarano, while authoritative, sounds amateurish. But heck, it’s seldom that we get to peek into such hallowed surroundings. Of course the Car Guys travel in style, in this case an Alfa Romeo 159 Turbo Sport Wagon, about which they said “with three guys onboard, and all our luggage, that car pulled like a freight train and cruised effortlessly all the way up to 190KPH! Passing was no problem—from 2000 to 4500 RPM this thing was all torque.” By the way, I saw one during my recent visit to London and it’s even more gorgeous than it appears in the photo.
