Dream Car

So, I recently helped my old college buddy Jonny Stud (not his real name) buy his dream car -- which turned out to be a 2006 Toyota Camry Solara Convertible. Jonny works at a bank, and he's been driving a 1991 Toyota Pickup truck since he bought it new, all the while dreaming of a convertible. Now he's got one, and he's deliriously happy. Good for him. That's a picture of him posing next to his new ride.

My dream car has always been a Porsche 911 3.2. Something in the 1984 - 1989 range, the Targa. A guy named Kevin Frank has a great Porsche history online, by the way -- great images and tech specs to drool over. I've wanted a 911 ever since I became aware of them, which had to be in the 1970s. The new Porsches are fantastic, great works of engineering and all that -- but I want one of the old air-cooled ones, before the age of traction control and such. I love the feeling of that rear engine-rear wheel drive setup hunkering down on the road, and the counter-intuitive way you have to keep your foot in the accelerator while you corner.
