We've got a few years to go yet before the world sees off the current generation (E60) 5-Series. Stylistically unloved by many for an overused flame surfacing design theory and the ungainly "Bangle But," the 5 line is ready for change.

And change is on the horizon. The resources @ MotorAuthority spied artistic renderings @ Swedish car mag AutoMotor&Sport. Reportedly, the concept drawings were virtually penned through info leaks sourced from staff @ Bayerische Motoren Werke.

As the above picture illustrates, the vehicle has fewer lines and the ones that remain have been straightened and aligned to flow to all the places that make sense. There's almost an Audi-esque restraint to the next 5-Series concept that's refreshing to the traditionalist's eye. This restraint, however, compromises none of the surface tension that's the assertive design element of all 5-Series generations.

2010 is the expected launch date for the next 5. Judging by this concept's looks, BMW's Party Faithful won't want to wait.
