At one point in my life I, a born-and-bred Torontonian, was determined to live in Europe or California. By way of New York I landed in London. One day, while shooting a commercial in Monaco, I stood on a promontory overlooking the principality and shouted "Dad, you made a mistake! I was supposed to have been born here!"
I could easily have shouted that while parked high on Mulholland Boulevard in LA for I was, and still am, Enchanted by California's scenery and sunshine. And by its fabulous car museums. Now California has a brand new $80 million, 100,000 sq. ft. facility that combines classic cars and communications. The Astor Classics Event Center and Living Automotive and Communication Museum was created by a radio pioneer who also loves classic cars and combined both his interests in one fabulous facility.
As a former radio guy who wrote and announced North America's first radio shows dedicated to cars and motor racing, I feel an affinity for this extraordinary museum. You may, too.
