Citroen Gets Best Design Award

You may have noticed from a previous blog that I'm not impressed with the World Car of the Year results. The winners are of little significance to most of the people on this earth. But I do like the World Car Design of the year, for it permits us to discover which vehicles the designers themselves admire. This year that honour went to the Citroen C4. As Motoring Life put it, the C4 "is a modern, cost-effective design that allows two different body styles for the five- and three-door versions, creating two distinctly different looks from a common base… it incorporates the same originality that defined the brand's reputation in the past, without reverting to a retro look." Best of all, in my view, it rids us of the tyranny of straight lines and angles, such as we see in too many cars these days.
